Integrating Genomics into Care

Providence Genomics is building the foundational infrastructure with data and operational strategies to integrate  whole-person precision medicine into care delivery across Providence.

Integrating Whole-Person Precision Medicine into Real World Care

To personalize care, we are working to ensure that caregivers have access to a patient’s genomic, clinical, social risk and protective factors as part of routine patient care.
However, achieving this requires data and operational infrastructure changes

Providence Genomics is building its genomics foundation with these strategies.

GenomicsNow Platform

Patients and providers using genomic clinical programs begin their experience through the GenomicsNow website, the hub for genomic program operations. As the Providence Genomics backend platform, GenomicsNow provides the infrastructure needed to quickly create and launch new clinical programs with minimal effort from clinical staff.
Patient Experience
Patients have a single, cohesive experience that includes:
  • Program Education
  • Online Consent
  • Program Dashboards
Care team Experience
Care teams have their own personalised experience which includes:
  • Caregiver-specific program education
  • Care delivery workflow information
  • Program support details and reporting

Decision Support Integrations

To ensure that genomic and eventually whole-person data are available to make care decisions we are integrating the data and technical systems with existing tools and technologies across Providence.
The Providence Genomics Module
Enables caregivers to use a patient’s discrete genomics data to inform and personalize real-time care decisions. Examples include providing prescription insights, dynamically matching patients to clinical trials, and creating reports.
Clinical Decision Support (CDS)
The Genomics Module includes an embedded CDS. Today it provides real-time, guideline-based prescription drug interaction information for patients’ who have PGx test results in Epic.

Whole-Person Data Hub (WPDH)

Providence Genomics is developing a data engine called the Whole-Person Data Hub (WPDH). It is designed to integrate and standardize clinical, genomic, and Social Determinants of Health (SDOH) data.  With this comprehensive view of the patient, caregivers will have the actionable information needed to bring a whole-person context into decision making during care.      Over time, the WPDH will play a crucial role in research initiatives and data collaborations, creating opportunities for scientific advancements in the field of genomics using de-identified data.
